  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Team leader role is running shifts being in charge of a team opening and closing the pub , being responsible for all cash on site, making sure staff are looked after, adhering to all rules and regulations, making sure staff have breaks, all customers are happy, dealing with any issues or complaints when necessary, make sure the shift is run properly,

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Whilst working in the pubI have learnt how to change a barrel and how to tap and vent barrels aswell as clean the beer lines. I have learnt how to accept and process orders aswell as how to complete line checks. Through the apprenticeship I have learnt how to complete a buisness project

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The apprenticeship has been brilliant so much so I am now looking forward to completing my level 3.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is really well structured the assessors are always at the end of the phone to give you advice. I find the lifetime fuse online program really easy to use as it’s module by module and there’s lots of access to different videos and links to watch.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Throughout the apprenticeship my employer greene king have been really supportive. It’s been a difficult time for everyone during the pandemic but greene king have kept me up to date with when I was able to start back the apprenticeship scheme. My manager has also been really supportive and my assessors have both been fantastic,

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support has been incredible I have suffered a lot with anxiety through the second lockdown but my assessor has been extra supportive and been on hand to guide me through my end point assessment.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification helps me to understand the nature of the buisness better it’s also helped me with my functual skills such as maths and English and it’s also given me more confidence in my job and going forward it will help me when I see other members of staff doing the apprenticeship as I can give them support and guidance.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I see our work place as an extra family we arrange social activities such as Christmas nights out and get togethers and even through lockdown we have had fortnightly social zoom calls with our team to make sure we are all ok where we can talk and do quizzes. Our pub has taken apart in events like the five aside football to raise money for Macmillan cancer.

  • Yes

  • Greene king is one of the best companies to work for. They really care about the welfare of there staff and customers which has really shown through these unprecedented times.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • Apply with confidence and talk to your manager about where you see yourself and discuss opportunities like the one I’ve had to do my apprenticeship.
