  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis i travel to various customer sites across the south of England and Wales, were i work alongside my colleagues fixing and installing various different diagnostic imaging equipment in Hospital environments. Each day is varied and comes with its own challenges, but is unique.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt significant amount since starting my apprenticeship, from hands on skills with tools that i use on a daily basis when fault finding or replacing parts. To time management and personal development. Not only this but i am constantly encouraged by Siemens Healthineers to develop and learn new skills, providing me with lots of opportunities to do so.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship, with the variety of work no day is the same. And my peers supporting my development and journey throughout my apprenticeship. Providing numerous opportunities to excel and try new things

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is extremely well organised, with a Apprentice Co-coordinator responsible of regular 1-1 catch ups with us apprentices, as well as in contact with our various colleges and training provider. She ensures that we have a structured mentoring program and have access to all the support that we need. As well as inducting all new apprentices and involving existing ones in the process for support.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have my line manager as well as the apprentice Co-coordinator, as well as a Engineer mentor who i can go to if i need any support. Along with a HR Team any issues i encounter they can be quickly resolved and are always keen to help.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • With Stegta we have a review meeting quarterly regarding the progress that is being made, however in between those we can always go to our tutor who can help with any queries. They are always super quick to help and makes it considerably more enjoyable.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It allows me to process what i am doing, i enjoy learning the theory side and applying it to what i do on daily basis, not only does this help me be better at my job but also improves my understanding.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are several social activities throughout the year, but given the recent pandemic this has been more challenging. However, they put on a variety of different events over Christmas as well as our team took part in a virtual escape room.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a fast developing company, with lots of ambition and drive amongst all colleagues. They are supporting in personal development. The opportunities are very unique and in a rapidly changing industry.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens Healthineers?
  • Ensure that your CV is well presented with Key information outlined. There are assessment days were you sit a small exam testing your basic maths skills, but be a team player and show interest and passion.
