  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Generally I am responsible for running the shift whether it be Lunch or Dinner. I am also responsible for locking up the building, end of day finance and coordinating all staff on shift.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt different types of management, and which situation to use them in and which people are best suited to different management styles. I have also learnt that sometimes when you face an issue, you need to step back for a moment, evaluate all aspects and come up with a reasonable and advantageous solution.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I very much enjoyed my programme, it was made more enjoyable by my trainer, who has a brilliant sense of humour, and helped me with any issues I had and pushed me in the right way when I strayed from my targets.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well, they start off by assessing your current level, and then they tailor the course to your needs and skill level.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer especially during the pandemic, financially and also offering services to help my mental state and well being. Whilst at work I never felt like there wasn't anyone to talk to if I had and issue and my work place has this overall family feel to it.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • More than I expected, as whenever I had an issue I knew that [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] would reply that day even if it was the dumbest question or the smallest issue.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It allows me to draw on knowledge I didn't previously have which enables me to deal with certain situations better than I used to.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many different social aspects to the new Greene King App and they run quizzes and competitions on there all the time. At my work we also used to have a staff evening out before the social measures were increased during the summer last year.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Greene King to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because they are very supportive, have allowed me to increase my qualification repertoire. They've also allowed me to do things I thought were not possible in my personal life thanks to their employment of me and being in a team that was capable of letting me do those things


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • Be yourself, be confident and enjoy yourself
