  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role can involve monitoring highly privileged accounts and systems to searching for the newest vulnerabilities and how it can impact our organisation. Ensuring security programmes are compliant with law and legislation and that the informational assets are correctly protected, monitored and updated to ensure assets are not compromised.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have both developed and gained many skills such as communication, creativeness, knowledge, confidence and much more. I am able to discuss topics I am not so sure about to colleagues outside of my department if I have a particular task that might need an expertises advice on.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • To the extent where I am happy to go to work and learn about the programme. I have a specific day each week I focus more on the apprenticeship side and I am always ready to learn something new.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Well organised with a visual roadmap to show progress and where i am, to logging hours on what I have completed in each module.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A lot of support. All my colleagues understand what I am learning and mostly management help align my objectives with those of the programme to help complete the apprenticeship to best possible standard

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My mentor is always on the other end of an email or a call if I ever want to ask something. Month catch ups happen to review my progress and what is needed of me

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The knowledge and experience picked up from the programme has allowed me to bring advice into my team and the organisation by informing them on topics they may find useful towards tasks and projects. I also bring another point of view in discussions.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have volunteering days, social catch ups with fellow apprentices and team. Yearly Christmas parties and summer parties. Raffles occur every so often with departments running competitions on each floor to celebrate events through the year. Many opportunities to attend cyber security events and speak to professionals on this.

  • Take advantage of every opportunity thrown at you whether it is getting to know more people or being part of an organisation wide project.
