  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a Technology Apprentice, I have 2 semesters each year that I spend in university which is about 4 months ( University blocks length vary from year to year, for example on Year 3 and 4 will be less days in university for me). and the rest of time I'm in workplace. My day in university is similar as any other university student, I'm learning Software Engineering which is paid for and will achieve a standard Bsc degree at the end of 4th year. My day in workplace involves learning FinTech and software development related technology for the job role, I get chance to get involved with the current project. My day in workplace is similar to any other full-time employees in workplace, we are treated equally.

Knowledge which I gained from university is the foundation and strong support for my role in workplace. At the meantime in workplace, since each apprentice were appointed to a specific role in the beginning, I'm learning everything related to my role and get help within my team. • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • 10/10. The support I got from my team is amazing. My manager is very supportive and make sure I have enough resource and point to me the right direction to learn. He would give me small hand-on tasks to exercise my knowledge and have 1-2-1 meetings regularly to ensure my progression. All my team members were being helpful too. Other support like career coach from HR will make sure all the apprentices are OK regularly, they provide great support too. And lots of career support drop-in sessions are available in the organization that everyone can get involved with.
