It is a rotational programme so it would vary in each department but I am usually part of a team that provides services to a client (currently in tax) and I support Senior Members of the team which allows me to learn from them and gain experience.
I have learnt how to apply my team work and communication skills as they are essential when working in a team that wants to achieve the same objective. Alongside that, I have learnt the importance of being pro active and taking pride in your own work which would help me get the most of my apprenticeship and be successful in my career journey
I really enjoy the rotational aspect of my programme as I would get to experience multiple functions in the firm, allowing me to understand different needs of our clients. I also like the fact that I have been given the opportunity to learn, work and earn at the same time. The experience I gain now would really help me with my career in the future
The pathway I am following is well organised as this programme has been taking place for multiple years however due to the uncertainties of COVID-19, I am unsure of how the timeline of my apprenticeship will be impacted
The rotational teams really understand that I am inexperienced and support my around that but other than that, there is a big support team dedicated to apprentices which help us with our performance and any issues. They do whatever they can to help us perform our best
The training provider sometime takes time to get back to our queries but they do provide us with a lot of useful resources that help us with our exams
I learn about some things in my job role which I don't understand at the time but the tuition helps solidify my background knowledge of the topic, helping me be successful
There are lots of social activities available throughout the business. We have our monthly team socials involving bowling, pop-up painting or just drinks catch ups. We also have networking events, especially for apprentices, where we can meet people from other functions of the business and get to know them
Yes
KPMG is a well established firm which has shown, from time to time, that they care about their workers. Working in a big firm like this means you will never experience anything on your own; there are hundreds of other apprentices In your year who you can relate to.
Don't assume that you won't get in because from my experience, the whole process wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be and I got in! Everyone knows how experienced you are and will support you throughout to bring you up to speed
