My role is to ensure that functions within the business' DRD sector are bringing value with the methods in which they roll out changes and implement new systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include updating action logs, connecting with project team members, creating agendas, data analysis and creating business communications.
I have had the opportunity to develop data analysis skills working with excel. Internal courses on the digital transformation and project management have enhanced my knowledge in these areas. I have developed my verbal communication skills as well as learning about how to manage conflicts.
I love almost all the aspects of my programme. The work aspect has been very rewarding at times and I must say to be a part of Unilever makes me very proud as it's such a great place to work. The training aspect has been less exciting at times.
From application to induction I have had a very smooth journey and always known the direction in which I have been heading. I have plenty of support available from the company and have been given a few notable tasks to take responsibility of. The team hierarchy isn't too linear.
I receive regular support from my manager in the way of appraisal and general guidance on how to achieve my goals in my role. There is loads of support internally through the companies' Degreed platform which includes training courses that really build on my work.
The support is there when I need it. It's made very clear that should I have any urgent issues then I can reach out to my tutors and the support team for guidance.
There are specific areas of the course that attempt to directly relate to my job role and aid me in becoming more effective in my role. So far these have been useful in places however this could definitely be improved.
There are plenty of activities to become involved with. These are advertised throughout the company and are very accessible and welcoming. Examples include football, gym, company gatherings such as nights out.
Yes
Unilever is an amazing company. Their values and commitment to creating a better world are inspiring and working for them has been a pleasure. The company culture is warm and inviting, and this has greatly contributed to my own confidence and sense of security as a new joiner.
Be honest and true to yourself in applying to this company, don't act like you know it all going in as this arrogance is not what they are after. Approach the assessment centre with an enthusiasm that does not fade as the day progresses, keeping a good energy level.
