  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as a Duty Manager at Premier Inn is to ensure that team members are getting the essential training and completing day to day duties. To carry out my our duties such as, running the floor during a service, banking ensuring guests are happy and dealing with any complaints in a professional manner. As a Duty Manger I observe team members on a shift and carry out any short take training when needed.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I always feel I am learning new skills every day when carrying out my day to day duties. When working in a hotel every day can be different as we see different guests most days I benefit from this as I improve my communication skills. As a Duty Manager i am always learning new skills in supervision and leadership I feel doing my apprenticeship has helped me gain skills in leadership as it’s giving me more confidence to do my tasks and team bonding with my team.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme as i feel I have plenty support when needed from my life time trainers and my hotel manager. I like using the portal as it’s straight forward and well set up. I like my face to face visits as my trainers always get the best out of you and push you to do the best of your ability.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It’s very well organised, at the start i struggling with keeping up with my apprenticeship while doing my job role as the hotel was recently opened and I was new to my role. With the portal it’s helped so much as it’s straight forward and I know whenever needed I can contact my trainers or hotel manager.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel I have a lot of support from my employer. Whenever I have a question I know it will be answered and when needed my manager will give me extra support and training to help me progress further with my course and complete it to the best of my ability.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support from my trainers, I have had a few face to face visits, and feel I really benefit with these as they push me to the best of my ability and give me good advice on how to move forward and what steps to take to get the best work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel I am always learning new skills within my job role. My apprenticeship helps me as it teaches me new ways to handling situations, how to supervise a team how to connect with team members. My apprenticeship helps me to focus on what i need to be doing to do my daily duties to the best of my ability.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I feel team bonding is very important so I try complete a team bonding exercise at least once a month. When your team have a great connection it makes the work place a lot happier and the team complete their tasks the best they can. Happy Team, Happy work place! These exercises can be something as simple as rounders in a field, or a half day at the beach.

  • Yes

  • Premier Inn is a great company. It offers amazing opportunities for people. It really looks after it’s employees and you can progress so far and learn so much. It gives you the chance to work with loads of amazing people in different place and the company will always expand.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread?
  • To go In with an open mind as there is a window for opportunity in each department. To look at the offers premier inn can give you and the perks of the job. Premier inn is nearly in every city in UK and more. To grab every opportunity you can get within premier in such as the apprenticeship course as it’s teaches you so many new skills.
