  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • This varies daily, but often I work on projects that involve data procurement and analysis of data to drive insights for the business. I also often work with many people around the world using Microsoft Teams on these projects. Sometimes I am required to build dashboards and applications in order to aid the business.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been able to learn how to use so many different programs, such as PowerBI, Microsoft Azure and Alteryx. Alongside this I have developed my coding skills in multiple languages, these being languages such as SQL, HTML, Scala, R, and Python. This job is also great for developing social skills as you get to communicate with so many people worldwide.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Whilst the programme is quite difficult, the experience is so rewarding. There are so many opportunities available within the company that will really allow you to expand your skillset and add amazing work experience to your CV. I have really enjoyed my experience so far and I am glad that I chose an apprenticeship at Unilever.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of Unilever's programme is very well laid out. I have weekly one-on-one meetings with my manager and frequent meetings with my apprenticeship coach. We have multiple training weeks up in Manchester that allow us to learn really vital skills for our programme such as R and SQL.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support from Unilever is amazing. There are so many resources available for anyone who is struggling, and you will always find someone to ask any questions to or to talk to about any concerns. It is such a welcoming environment and it really made me feel relaxed about joining the company.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training providers are very clear about their requirements for gaining your qualification and are always ready to help if you have any struggles. They have plenty of learning resources available for you to access and are always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you are on track with your apprenticeship.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The training received through my training provider is very relevant to my role. It has taught me how to code, query data and build insightful and engaging dashboards that my company can use to gather insights and drive business decisions. It has taught me vital business concepts and skills to really help me excel in my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes - we have clubs related to fitness, such as yoga, volleyball and football which are incredibly fun. If you aren't too much of a sporty person, there is also opportunities to join our choir. There are plenty of different clubs to join and lots of opportunities to meet new people.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Overall, my experience has been incredibly positive - Unilever are very family-orientated and are so understanding if you are struggling or experiencing any hardships either at work or at home. The people at Unilever are so keen to help and are extremely friendly. The offices are always welcoming and there are lots of resources available for you to expand your skillset and meet new people.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • My best advice I can offer is to be yourself in interviews. Let your personality shine through - they want to see you as a person. Be honest - if you don't know something, ask! Communication and teamwork is emphasised a lot at Unilever so the more open, friendly and relaxed you are, the better.
