  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Cloud estate analyst - Look at what is in our cloud environment and focus on the data quality side of things. Looking to see if any instances are untagged and try and get these related to something. Also help try and reduce costs using cost optimization tools. This involves looking at bills every month.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My skills have improved since starting the apprenticeship. I have improved my problem solving skills as this is needed a lot with the data quality side of my work to understand why things are not working the way they should. I have also improved my confidence and my education has improved also

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the everyday work that I am involved in. It is nice to go into the office and see my colleagues and learn from them. It is what I thought it would be when I signed up to the apprenticeship which is good. It is a great chance to develop

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprenticeship itself is very organised and I never do not know what I am supposed to be doing. I do work 4 days a week and then study 1 day a week so my week is split ensuring I get enough time to complete my qualification at the open university

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support from my employer is there when I need it. I tend to lean on colleagues for support rather than my manager however, it is always there. It is harder to get support from The Open University as it is all online so sometimes replies take a long time to get.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support is there however it is not as available as the support from my employer. As it is all online it can sometimes take days to hear back. However, I only have a study day once a week so if I need to get something done that day I often have to go without the help

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like most of the modules I do through my training provider help me within my role however, we have a work based module which does not seem to help me with my role and it seems to take a lot of time for me to understand these modules and I then get low scores.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am leading the outreach team for our apprenticeships so I go to schools whenever they have career fairs and make students more aware of the opportunities available as a Unilever apprentice. I also take part in the social pillar which involves running events to bring the hub together by doing something fun

    10/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great environment to be in especially when a lot of apprentices start at the same time so you have a network ready built. You get to work hours that suit you and have the chance to work from home. Great way to kick start your career whilst getting a qualification

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • The advice I would give to people thinking of applying for Unilever is go for it. It is a great opportunity to develop your skills. My advice would be to be yourself and not stress about the interviews because it is not as bad as you make think it is going to be
