  • Whilst not on a specific project, my role covers a wide range of areas including recruitment, client relationships and marketing. This provides coverage and interaction with members of the whole business area to expand my experience and network with a well-rounded approach, enabling me to build my skills in a greatly.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My role has enabled me to broadly develop my skillset, which includes academic, professional and personal development. The main skills I have developed include understanding business ways of working and career development. The main new skills I have learnt internal and external communication and critically assessing situations, all leading into professional development.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I'm very appreciative of what my programme offers me for career development, including academic, professional and personal development, and building my understanding of the industry I work in. As a business consultant, I find some of the technical modules more challenging, but enjoyable as a new skill to learn.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of the programme is clearly set out from the beginning, with an understanding of what will be included across the 3 years. For each module, key assignment information is provided to begin each semester, and coursework enables us to complete assignments at the most convenient times for us.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • CGI are extremely supportive throughout the apprenticeship to enable you to complete both work and University studies to the best of your ability. A clear understanding of your workload, and how they can help to manage this, alongside the roles they can provide to build these skills, maximises their ability to support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • For each module, we have a minimum of 12 in-person sessions with tutors or guest speakers to understand the content of each module, as well as for if we have any concerns or questions regarding the learning. When not at University, they are always available through email, providing consistent support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The modules within my University degree which link to my workplace role provide a far greater understanding of how to best perform my role. For the modules that have very little correlation, it still provides a good understanding of the other work we undertake, providing an overall better organisation understanding.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • CGI provide a great range of activities to get involved with. This ranges from sports activities such as football, social events and networking opportunities on a consistent basis. Furthermore, CGI also offer the opportunity for members to create their own events for things that they would like to do, therefore inclusive of all members.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The range of opportunities available in the short and long term provide a great place for consistent and tailored career progression. Every CGI member, client and shareholder is extremely welcoming, honest and supportive to everybody's individual needs to ensure that we can all work to the best of our abilities.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CGI?
  • The main tip I would provide to anybody applying would be to be themselves, as this ensures that you can provide the best representation of yourself. To further this, research around CGI and the things that are most important to us will greatly help to understand the type of members who would fit well.
