  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role includes helping to organise both internal and external campaigns globally in the business. My day-to-day work changes but I often work on things such as the guest list or helping to bring the event to life.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt new skills on platforms such as excel which I hadn't used before. My written communication skills have also been developed further as I am confident to send important emails without having to get them checked which I did to begin with.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme is a great opportunity to learn new skills, network and get experience in the business world. However I am not always busy with work and feel as though the level of tasks I am receiving are still at the same level, I would like to take more responsibility on bigger tasks.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured in the way that my manager joins me to speak with my employer and provides feedback, therefore the communication with everyone involved is good. The structure of my actual work load could be improved as it is not always clear what I will be working on and am sometimes told I will work on a certain project and then do not.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer to ensure I am clear on what I am working on and am given the chance to ask questions if I have any. My line manager is also always helping to get me more work from other members of the team to ensure I am getting the most out of my apprenticeship.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I also receive a good amount of support from my training provider as all tasks which are set are explained clearly and I am able to ask questions if I have any. It is also good in the way that if I need to improve on a previous bit of work it is clearly explained as to how I can do so.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification helps me to perform better in my role as it has helped me to outline the skills which I currently have, as well as the areas which I need to improve on meaning when I complete work in my role I am making sure I cover all areas and am improving on those I'm not so good at.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Once or twice a month all of the apprentices based in the same office arrange to meet up whether it's for a drink in the pub or to have lunch together. This helps bring us together socially and allows us to spend time together outside of our usual work environment.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Unilever to a friend as it is a great company to work for as it provides you with great experience in the working world and the way which you are bought into it at first is great as it allows you to gradually get used to it rather than throwing you straight in. There are many opportunities within the company which allow you to show your potential and go further.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • Be confident, ask as many questions as you can, do research on the company as it is always important to know the background and see if there values are in line with yours as this can also help to motivate you to work at a high level, and finally to be yourself - everyone is accepted and welcomed.
