  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in audit department for EY. On a daily basis this involves going into businesses and checking their financial statements are true and fair. This involves checking bank and cash, debtors, Creditors and talking with companies FC's, CFO's, CEO's and more. This is all done whilst studying for my professional exams.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • You learn many new skills immediately on the job and one of the main ones is how to communicate effectively with people in your team, department and whoever your contacts are within the business you're auditing. This combined with how to be professionally skeptic and how to manage an audit from start to completion.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme for many reasons including the work, the people and the money which allows me to build for a lifestyle I desire, furthermore being challenged everyday as no business is the same and learning for your professional exams is a good lesson is how to manage your workload.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is extremely well organised as soon as your e contract is signed after months of tests and communications with EY. youre organised to go to London for your introduction and a weeks worth of classes. Over in London you are given your laptop and everything you need to do your job.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • You receive loads of support as soon as you join you are assigned a buddy in the year above and a councilor (one of your managers). also everyone in your year is going through a similar process and the years above are extremely helpful. There is also systems in place if you are struggling outside of work related matters.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • You get constant support as Kaplan are always in contact by email for online refresher classes and whilst you are in London at classes the teacher are at ur full disposal for any notes and exam tips. furthermore the notes given are extensive and explained in different manners for different types of learners.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It is essential for my role in order to further understand the reason for my tasks on a daily basis and how further training will only help this understanding process. Especially as it is a problem solving nature of business the training allows you to apply knowledge outside of classroom questions.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes there are many clubs and activities to get involved in such as 5 a side teams, women's clubs, health clubs and many charity activities which teams of people get involved in such as marathon relays. the professional networking events are extensive and give many opportunites to grow your professional profile

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • it is a place which facilitates growth and also facilitates you achieving you goals. this combined with workplace friendships and situations which require you to perform outside of your comfort zone. Furthermore if you know you want to be chartered a 5 year stay at a big 4 firm is good for anyone


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • I would advise anyone who was going to apply for this role to be confident in yourself as a person as grades and what you done at school is no longer important its about if you can adapt to listening to people who are above you and if you can work effectively in a team dynamic and still give your personality to your job.
