  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves me working first my with consumers to see what they think about our products and competitor products and trying to see how we can develop to reach their needs. I sort budgeting and speak to agencies to set up research which is either qualitative or quantitative to better our products.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my innovative thinking and I have learnt how you always need to think of the consumers point of view and this must be your primary source of information. I also know how to set up consumer connects and run different types of research confidently with guidance from my manager

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme but I think it would be good to be given some more responsibly because I often feel bored with the amount of workload and don’t feel I am being pushed toward my full potential. I enjoy being busy and having a ‘full’ day at work.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel my programme is organised however I think I would have liked much more guidance during the beginning of my apprenticeship as I felt quite neglected. I like one day a week for a study day as this lets me balance my work and learning easily and means I’m not too over whelmed

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive support from my manager however I do not feel pushed at all. From man power I don’t feel much support other than my meeting with my coach every four months which I get asked the same questions and I do feel like it’s a parent evening

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I feel a lot of support towards my qualification from lynn from APM however when making my personal statements I think it is hard as there is no guidance and the exam questions in the APM seem very weirdly graded as the marking system isn’t like a levels. You could write loads and only get one make or write a few bullet points and get 10 marks

    2/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like it is supporting my role however I don’t feel my qualification matches up directly with my role as I don’t cover all project management in my role. This makes it quite difficult when learning about it as I can’t apply it to my day to day role

    3/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes I am part of the LGBT group and I also participate in extra days like dove day and world hygiene day. I also try and attend events like internationals women’s day as this is also good for making connections with other colleagues and get your name heard by others

  • 9a. Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think it’s a great start to your career and there’s so much to learn working in a big business. I would tell them it is tough to be an apprentice when everyone else has a degree around you though and it is a very big just from a levels with little support

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • Make sure you attend extra events and make sure you are nice and polite to everyone as you never know who you are talking to. Enjoy your time here as it goes so fast and learn as much as possible taking notes of things you have done along the way
