  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role within Tech Data is to be the first point of contact for Tech Data customers portraying a professional and confident manner that delivers excellent customer satisfaction. As a sales person i will build and maintain an active customer base and develop new sales oppertunities to achieve sales targets.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills within my role at Tech Data for instance i have adopted general sales skils such as how to get through the gate keeper on a call, as well as how to structure a call to get the most success out of a conversation with a customer. Throughout my training i have also learnt how to approach a conversation with a customer using open, probing and status questions all of which help with getting the customer talking. Aswell as this i have expanded on my communication skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Since being at Tech Data i have thoroughly enjoyed being on the Apprentice Programme. The programme itself has clearly been really thought through as the structure of training and Business experience that Tech Data offer you is exceptional. Already i feel well supported and am clear on what i need to do both in my main job aswell as my apprentice work.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured as it is always made clear to me what tasks/projects i will be working on next and throughout the company multiple training activitys are organised in advanced for the apprentices so we are clue dup on all aspects of the business. As well as this my apprenticeship coach plans in time for us to complete our apprentice work so we do not fall behind and can keep up to date and referance our work as evidence.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As an employee i feel as though my employer (especially my manager) goes above and beyond to support me both within the business and in my personal life. The company as a whole do their best to support all employees and stress the importance of our health and wellbeing. The company have alot of programmes in place to support its employees.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Every month i have a face-face review meeting with my Global Knowledge Apprentice coach james who talks through all the work i need to complete and asks how i am getting on with it to make sure i am confident and know how to do it. As well as this he offers any kind of support being personal or within my programme.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think that the my qualification will benefit me both short term and long term within my role as i have had training in all kinds of different areas from areas within Tech Data to the supporting training that vendors offer when they come in to work with us. In addition to this the extensive amount of training means i will overall know more and therefore have knowledge in all areas which is a massive benefit when networking within the company as well as talking with customers.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There a varius social events that Tech Data offer one of which is the social club that you can sign up to and then get involved with different activities that they run. E.g. bowling, Days out and many more. This allows us as a company to meet new people internally and have fun whilst doing so. As well as this we have an annual christmas party that is essentially a celebration of our year end and a way of congradulating all employees for their hard work and dedication to the company. Another example of this is with our Tech Data live event that runs in place to network with other companies and customers.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Tech Data as a whole is a really positive environment to work in alongside some great people who really take pride in what they do and the company they work for in which reflects in the way the business is run and the work we produce. It is a really supportive environment that allows you to grow as a person but also within your career.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TD SYNNEX?
  • My advice to anyone applying to Tech Data is to be yourself and really show your interest for who we are as a business and the work that we do. As well as keeping up to date with your work from the start and staying organised to help both yourself and your Managers/Team.
