  • I shadowed a current audit apprentice in the Banking and Capital Management sector, which involved attending walkthroughs, completing Excel tasks and presenting to a Partner about the potential for technology within audit.

  • I learnt basic Excel skills and developed my logical thinking, problem solving and communication skills.

  • I enjoyed attending walkthroughs but I often felt that not enough work was given for us to independently complete.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • We had regular meetings with mentors but more assigned work could have been given to us to complete independently or in teams. The tasks given to us were based on our apprentice's work and often they didn't tasks that were suitable for us to complete.

  • Learnt a lot about the diverse nature of the company and its application process.

  • Made me realise that audit was not necessarily the path for me, but the Partner meeting allowed me to explore technology, which is of interest to me.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • You were able to meet other employees in your apprentice's teams and you could also meet other apprentices who were mentoring the interns. The Partner presentation also allowed us to meet with senior employees.

  • Very diverse teams who are always ready to help you when you need help.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • Make sure to read around current affairs regarding your sector, research the culture within the firm (the values they uphold) and really show your interest for the sector you're applying for.
