  • My role is an apprentice fitter, this involves manufacturing wings. On a day to day basis I rivet bolts to construct the frame of the wing.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt and developed existing skills, my confidence has grown with the use of hand tooling and confidence when communicating with people. I have learn even more hand skills and ways to apply them in the production of aircraft.

  • I enjoy it a lot as I have always had an interest in planes and to help build them makes it more enjoyable.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is reasonably organised, they are some miscommunications but normally sort everything out with a slight delay.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A lot of support, we have regular meetings to ask questions and meetings with our TTO’s to see our progress.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We get a lot of support, they always provide help if we need it or if we are struggling on certain things.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps a lot, everything we learn is to do with the job role and expands our knowledge.

  • Yes, there are a lot of networking we can do, there are school visits we can do to help others with their future.

  • Yes

  • It is a huge organisation and well organised work place which provides everything you need to get the job done.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Airbus?
  • Make sure you are prepared to put the work in and the more you put in, the more the employer does too.
