  • • Manage the implementation of third-party developed IT applications and systems, developing and maintaining relationships between the Trust and suppliers • Successful delivery of new projects in line with the aims and goals of the LGT IM&T Plan • Manage budgetary aspects of these projects along with Risks, Issues and Training needs • Set and monitor performance standards of the benefits realisation of the project to ensure that operational and clinical benefits are achieved • Deal with complex and contentious reactions to change for the project, using persuasive and re-assurance skills • Update and create project documentation including project plans, action logs, issue/risk log and business cases.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt the following from the modules I have taken at LSBU: Project Management - Work breakdown structure and additional project management tasks Business Ethics - ethical theories and methods Logistics - processes to follow when shipments are made including health and safety E-Business - How digital technology continues to go with the internet of things and other methods such as influencers, etc Business Relationships - Stakeholder mapping Business Research - how to collate data and display results

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have learnt and grown so much from enrolling on this programme. My confidence has improved and my knowledge and skills continue to improve allowing me to use what I have learnt and align with my current role as a Project Manager. I thoroughly enjoy this course and look forward to gaining further skills with the new modules.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Myself and my colleagues have experienced several issues with obtaining a correct timetable and some have been unable to check-in/out because of this. We have also been unable to enrol for year 3 as we are waiting for our year 2 results to be added to the system. Correspondence has been sent to the course director and he is aware of this.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My line manager has been supportive and encouraged to raise any concerns if they arise. The Trust has been supportive allowing me to shadow my colleagues to allow me to review their day to day role. The Trust encourages the apprenticeship scheme and updates us with any events taking place.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The module tutors have been very supportive and are always available if I have a query and respond within a timely manner. If I have any questions the tutors are approachable and provide support and feedback. LSBU provides online support and offers services/events to students. The library is easy to use and I'm always able to find the books I need.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The degree has been brilliant and given me so much confidence in my role. I continue to learn things and it makes me look at ways in which I can improve as a person and employee. It also makes me looks at ways the workplace can improve and how I can implement change.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The Trust holds regular events for employees who have taken part in a training courses. They bring in external speakers to discuss topics such as technology and leadership. The Trust also promotes and health and wellbeing by holding yearly events to review your health, e.g cholesterol tests, blood tests and weight checks. The Physiotherapy Departments, as well as others, offer extra classes at a small cost.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The NHS is a good place to work. It can be challenging at times like any other work due to limited resource but we all have the same aim to work together and provide high-quality patient care. The Trust offers great training programmes encouraging staff to continually work on personal development.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
  • Make sure you understand how the NHS works, strive for continuous personal development, communicate if you're unsure of anything and always try your best.
