As an apprentice travel advisor my day to day job involves completing the admin work in the morning which includes completing online diaries and setting up the travel money. It also includes setting up computers for travel. Serving customers through out the day whilst completing window deals and other tasks. I also complete my apprentice work half a day each work to ensure I am up to date on this. This also includes excellent customer service and working as a team with my work colleagues. Completing sales of the best holidays is important and being confident in the product you are selling is also circuital. I also restock the brochure racks and check the in store point of sale is up to date.
I have learnt so many skills and gained so much knowledge even though I am only 6 months in. My computer and systems skills has increased hugely and also my knowledge of different destinations and the products tui sell. I have also gained knowledge on travel money and which currencies different countries use.
I fully enjoy my apprenticeship as it suites me! I do not have to complete college and do all my work during my job. I also enjoy having the flexibility of completing my work at my pace. I also enjoy engaging with my colleagues and working as a team towards our targets. I also enjoy being face to face with customers and working on computers.
My programme is well organised as I have an apprenticeship coach that I can contact at any time and I also see her on a Skype call every month. She also comes to visit me in store every 3 months. Also I have contacts with other apprentices which helps if I am stuck or need some advice.
I receive a lot of support from my apprenticeship coach and contact her a lot. I can also see the feedback she has left me on any work I have completed. I can also ask my colleagues for help as many of them were apprentices so they know the system. I can also ask colleagues for help with witness testimonys.
I receive a lot of support as my apprenticeship coach is also on hand will any questions or struggles I have. My manager also gives me extra time to complete work and also completed witness testimony for me when they are needed. My work colleagues are also very supportive in the work role and out.
My qualification allows me to gain my knowledge of the systems and third party suppliers we work with. It also allows me to gain my knowledge on different destinations. My qualification also allows me to gain knowledge of my work systems and also training with apprentice days in different airports so I can replay this to staff.
There are a few extra curricular activities as TUI carry out educational which you can apply for. This means you get to visit the destination which TUI pay for in order to gain your knowledge. We also do apprentice days out where all the apprentices from the region get to meet up and visit somewhere.
Yes
There is so much to learn here and there is so much opportunity to grow in this company as there are so many different areas of work. This can be retail in a TUI shop to being a TUI rep abroad to working on TUI planes being a mechanic in this country.
Be yourself! TUI do not look for knowledge they look for personality so it doesn't matter if you do not know an awful lot as there are so many systems you can use to find out answers and so much e learning to gain confidence and knowledge for when serving customers.
