My role involves finding customers dream holidays on a day to day basis. This can included anything from taking payments to selling foreign exchange and also discussing peoples dream holidays. I do admin jobs daily which include actioning any invoices and taking responsibility in my role. I do a mixture of jobs daily.
Since starting my apprenticeship I have developed a lot of new skill.s I came straight form school from the age of 16 so I had never done anything like what I do now. I have developed a better understanding of my job role and what it consists of. I have developed both personal and professional skills.
I enjoy my apprenticeship a lot. This is because of the team I work with who make it enjoyable and help me with anything that I need. I also love my job and what I do which makes it so enjoyable. I knew I would enjoy it from the moment I started.
My apprenticeship programme is really well organised and has great structure. My induction consisted of a 3 day training programme in Luton which I learned a lot about the company and my role and expectations. I get set study time for my apprenticeship and all the support I need with my mentor and my apprenticeship coach. My store has my manager and assistant manager and a third in charge so I know who to go to if I have an issue but we are all treated equally. It is a really well organised and structured programme.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. If I need anything my manager is normally my go to person and she helps me with anything she can but my regional manager is also very supportive of the apprenticeship programme and wants to see us succeed and become the best we can. My whole team has such a motivating attitude and helps me to do my best.
When working towards my qualifications there is set work I have to complete and certain tasks to help me get through my apprenticeship. I receive support off of my mentor which is one of my colleagues in store who has completed the apprenticeship programme herself so knows what it is about and she supports me. I also have all the support of my apprenticeship coach who really helps me with my work and any general queries I have. They point me in the right direction if I have any problems. I really enjoy my apprenticeship because of this.
I feel that my qualification through my training provider helps me to perform better in my role. This is because the work my apprenticeship programme asks me to do betters me in my role. It provides me all the relevant information and training I need as it progresses me as I complete this as I then know all of the up to date information and I keep upskilling myself.
I wouldnt say there is extra curricular activites due to the nature of my job role. However we do go on apprenticeship days which I go on and we have supplier visits where a representative from a company will come and talk to us. We also have organised meeting via skype.
Yes
TUI is such a good company to work for and it is also so rewarding. For example we have certain incentives each month where we can hit and receive rewards. The company itself is really supportive and we have a really good apprenticeship programme that is so good, especially since I started from when I left school.
I think I would say to just be yourself. I left school and hadn't studied travel and tourism or anything relevant to my job. I had GCSE's which helped which means I don't have to do this alongside my apprenticeship. But my team hired me for my passion and personality.
