  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is within the procurement function. I am currently liaising with suppliers that are from the UK and also from all around the world. My job involved ensuring the supplier has been paid, purchase orders have been raised, and the product/service has been delivered correctly and on time. I am constantly speaking with suppliers and new people.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have greatly developed my communication, confidence, time management and organisational skills. This is from always speaking and meeting new people, whether that be in person or over the phone. My time management and organizational skills have been developed from planning and booking meeting that fit around all attendees schedules. I must also make sure I fit it in a time that best suits me.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I greatly enjoy my apprenticeship scheme. I look forward to what I will experience and learn from day to day. I share a strong interest in the work that my apprenticeship involves and love getting stuck into any challenges that come along the way. Everyone is also very supportive, so if I have any queries, they will never go unheard.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My organisation is very well structured. It is very clear who you should go to if you have any problems with your apprenticeship, and also who to go to if you have any queries with the work that you are doing. There are also always courses and sessions that are designed for the apprentices to get involved in and further develop their knowledge.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support from my line manager, and assessor, and also any other employees from my company. Everyone is very happy to answer any queries I might have, and point me in the correct direction. If I am having any troubles with the work that I have been set, it is very easy to reach out and seek advice.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive lots of support from my assessor. They teach my everything I must know for my assignments and what I need to achieve my qualifications at the end of the apprenticeship. If I am struggling with what I need to do for my assignment, or am struggling to reach my deadline, they are very happy to come to a balanced solution.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My learning/college sessions benefit my work within my role drastically. I learn a better understanding of the aspects related to the company. Such as the policies, regulations, external factors, internal factors etc... Everything that I learn benefits my efficiency and effectivity within my role. Helping me have a better understanding and reasoning behind the work I complete.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are constant extra curricular activities for all the apprentices to get involved in. Some of which include mental health awareness courses, security courses, helping out at open events, tours of your site etc. Each of the enrichment activities are designed to benefit your time within the company, getting exposure and enhancing your knowledge.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • There are endless opportunities that come with the company. You are always able to meet new people, face new challenges and pursue new experiences. The work you participate in is always interesting and you are always learning something new that will help you develop towards your future career. There is also always work to do, there is never a point where you feel bored.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • The main tips I would give are to be confident, interested and open to any opportunities/challenges that may come your way. BAE Systems are very keen on team work, so I would definitely work on this area if you haven't already, providing evidence of how you work within a team and how you face problems etc.
