Career Inspiration Week Review

We learned about different jobs on offer at E.ON, got talks from employees and the CEO, as well as activities designed to improve our skills needed for the world of employment, for example interview and CV skills. We also took part in activities like designing a car, or our own version of an energy company.

We learned lots about the world of employment such as how different departments work together and which employers are better than others. Also skills like interview skills, CV improving and how to give good presentations. We played games that taught us to question the authority if we believe something wasn't right.

I really enjoyed it. I liked the structured days, and that everything was very well planned so everyone knew where to be and when. I also really liked the variety of information we were given, and the different talks on offer. The breakfasts and lunches were really nice too which helped.

It was very well organised, we knew where we had to be, what we needed to have with us, what we would be provided with etc. Also, people giving us talks always arrived on time and gave well structured and relevant talks which shows there was good communication between the event and the speakers.

I learned a lot about what it would be like to work at E.ON. One particularly useful activity for this was when we grilled existing employers which meant that we could find out from many different sources how they find working there. Also being in the working environment every day gave a unique insight into the atmosphere and culture.

The sheer variety of speakers meant that by the end of the week I was aware of what sectors interested me more than others however I still am not sure of what to do for my career path. But the week did help me to refine my choices. Also the talk about career options (apprenticeships etc) helped with this.

Yes my fee payer was reimbursed £20 a day for transport etc as far as I am aware. I was not paid as I was not working for the company. Food and drink was provided with a good selection on offer which catered for many dietary requirements/ food preferences. This meant we didn't have to buy our own lunch each day.

We got some business cards from some employers for the purpose of potentially shadowing them in the future to learn more about their job and to put on our CVs. We met many employees including the CEO and degree apprentices so there was a real selection from all different jobs which provided a varied insight.

The week was well structured and enjoyable, I found it rewarding and interesting and I learnt a lot of interesting information which will be very useful as I enter the world of work or further information in the future. It was also a good way of making friends from different areas, and learning from other people what they want to do with their futures.

I would have liked to know the dress code beforehand so I would tell them that. I would give them CV tips for applying, however that was all that was needed for applying. They didn't need any prior experience as far as I was aware so there isn't much else for me to tell them.
