Working in various departments across the business to learn skills and knowledge regarding maintenance activities. Day release at collage to gain additional qualifications that compliment the practical learning expereinces
The skills I learnt during my apprenticeship helped me to continue on as an engineering inspector and then planning engineer. You never stop learning in the role and working across the different areas allow you to meet many people who love to take you under their wing and teach you.
It was an awesome 4 years and I would recommend to anyone. The Steelworks is ever changing and even as a female working in a mainly male environment, it was a fantastic learning experience
The programme was well structured to allow you to work in various areas
The people at Tata Steel want to see you succeed - you put the effort in and you will be rewarded for it
I was fortunate enough to continue with my education after my apprenticeship to do a degree and masters qualification, they are very supportive of additional training and qualifications
It helped a lot and looks great on the CV too!
Yes, as a young person in the business I would recommend you join the 'Magnet' young professionals group for experiences such as international site visits, conferences, customer visits and socials - a great way to network and see more of the business
Yes
Although I finished my apprenticeship some years ago, I still see the opportunities this company brings for young people. Apprenticeships are a great way to learn on the job whilst gaining qualifications at the same time.
Have an open mind, make the most of the networking opportunities and learn from the experienced older employees as much as you can.
