I am a store apprentice, during my first year I learn the role of a store assistant, who works the stock (deliveries) fills the shelves and also serves customers on the till.
I have learnt new people skills in the sense of this being my first full time job, learning how to work as a team and be part of that team, with colleagues of various ages.
I enjoy my programme as it is something different to what I have done before, college (a levels). However you are reliant on your training provider too much, in the fact that if the process can be sped up it depends on the trainers speed.
There is a clear structure to my programme, with a pathway to moving up in the business.
I receive lots of support from my employer and I am encouraged to ask any questions. However I do not get as much time as id like to do my theory/computer work, due to the business being so busy.
I do receive support and have emailed him with queries from time to time, however I feel the process can become stagnant and slow, when you are completing the work quickly.
It gives you a background theoretical understanding of retail and also people which can be taken into my job and can only put me at an advantage. But I do feel as with most jobs you learn best by doing.
Yes we have a 5 a side team. And do have nights out and meals together.
Yes
Personally I enjoy Aldi due to its fast paced nature which I feel suits me and I also like that they encourage internal progression, which can only be positive for me being young and wanting to move up the business.
Its hard work which is why they pay well, there is many things to learn and remember and be prepared to work hard and be blown away by those workers who have been doing it for years.
