  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day role is mainly built up of reaching out to clients, via extensive phone calling and emailing. Prospecting clients, creating cadences and following these for outreach. Also spend part of my time completing online training, training courses and more of the apprenticeship side of the job role.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed the skills that I previously had through onboarding and further training, for example my presentation skills and confidence have been greatly developed. I have also learnt new skills based around this job role as I haven't done this type of work previously. For example I can now use Salesforce, as well as other systems that we use in house.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the culture of the company, I think we all get along well and put lots of effort into our job role, embrace the extra training that we are given and I enjoy both the job and the areas that we focus on training. Overall I quite enjoy the programme

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Our induction is lengthy and this is the basis of our knowledge around IBM We then have further induction training in our specific office/business section There is lots of support from the Early Professional Manager, as well as clear indication of where and when our training will take place. Also a good level of understanding from our Task Manager to ensure that we have the time to participate in our off the job training

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is a good level of support as it isn't just focussed on one person. I have two managers, along with a buddy and other apprentices that I could talk to if I needed something. Replies are quick so you never feel like you are waiting around for an answer

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have only just started the training, although there are clear pathways indicated for us to follow so this is easy to find without having to actively ask your manager. Although she will advise if there are any changes to the plan or if there is anything extra that needs to be included

    8/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe that the sales training specifically better improves your day to day role as you can then put it into practice. The rest of the training will help in a broader context when moving on further through our career rather than directly to our current business development rep role.

    8/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many networking events, some more main ones that are part of our job role, which have networking events in the evening and then further events such as charity football matches, boating days etc. There are also social activities and communities that are more IBM based and these are also available if wanted.

    8/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because I think this will give me a good basis to learn more skills in a new job role, but also to develop into a higher level of professional person. This will open more doors in the future and lead onto better things. There are many opportunities that I am under the impression wouldn't be as readily available elsewhere

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
  • Prep for the online assessments, although you can get through them they are harder than you would expect! Relax for the interview process as it is much more relaxed than what you would think and its much easier if you aren't worrying and you just go with the flow!
