  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work within the Apprenticeship Delivery Team based in Leatherhead. I mainly work on the attraction & recruitment of Apprenticeships to the business but also work on wider youth employability initiatives. No two days look the same and there is lots of variety and scope to get involved in a range of different tasks & projects.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very structured. I have monthly reviews with my tutor to ensure I'm on track - as well as reviews with my employer. I have clear tasks and projects as part of my programmes with deadlines, making sure I complete them on time. I had an exam 1 year in to my programme and then an End Point Assessment (presentation & interview) to complete my apprenticeship.

This is in the form of the HR team (both the Apprenticeship team & wider HR) as well as access to a mentor, catching up regularly on performance & development. • There is a good level of support from the training provider. In terms of face to face support, this comes in the form of regular catch-ups and classroom sessions. There is also access to lots of resources online (project management) for me to review and complete in my own time to help towards my qualification.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of opportunities to socialise as an apprentice at Unilever and it's a really fun experience. As an apprentice network, we regularly go out for drinks and participate in different sporting activities such as netball and tough mudders. There are also great opportunities to do things as teams, not just limited to your apprentice intake.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Best thing I've done and has built a brilliant platform for my career! I've met so many amazing people as part of my apprenticeship and has allowed me to learn from them and steal their skills & knowledge with pride!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • Be yourself and don't compare yourself with others, do the best you can possibly do - this applies to the recruitment process and once you're in the apprenticeship scheme. Its great to have as many examples of extra-curricular and work experience activities as possible to I would recommend anyone without these to get involved with them - not matter what their scale.
