  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis I support the project based activities of the Knowledge Exchange and Impact Team at Oxford Univeristy. I look after multiple social media streams, assist in the production of reports and case studies to highlight world class research. Assist with the promotion and organsitation of large scale event evenings and even conferences.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, i have learnt advanced excel and other microsoft office skills. I have learnt how to produce minutes and submit ideas to a meeting. I have learnt about the process of entrenpreneurial activites at the university. I have learnt key networking and communication skills and i have a fantastic grounding in the workings of research support at the univeristy.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme. My day to day workload is challenging but rewarding, the other members of my team have welcomed me and have assisted with my training above and beyond expectations, each member are happy to adivse me, sit with me through tasks and give me challenging work designed to prove my worth in the team

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say the programme is structured very well, I have regular meetings with my apprenticeship coordinator who advises me on training as well as checking on my well being and how I am functioning in my new role. My assessor is very friendly and helpful with providing the necessary materials to achieve the best in my course.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer. Once a week I sit down with my line manager to discuss my weeks tasks, how I am finding work, how my training is going and how my mental and physical well being are, this is very reassuring to know that my employer has my best interests at heart.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I don't start my college dates until the 22nd of May, but the support I have received so far in drafting my portfolio, collating relevant information for documentation, completing research tasks designed to expand my organisational understanding and the explanation of the course and what is expected of me has always been exceptional.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My focus on training means that I am always eager to ask questions and expand my knowledge of my role. This involves me attending professional courses to build on my existing skills, asking for more and challenging projects from my colleagues, but always with the knowledge that if i need to step back and ask for help, I can

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I regularly attend networking events surrounding innovation, startups and entrepreneurship. This is very exciting because it means i get to witness the early stages of what could go on to be world-changing ideas. My team are very friendly and we regularly meet up out of work hours to socialise. We also hold weekly team lunches to catch up with no work talk.

  • Yes

  • The university is a great place to work, the support and opportunity for growth is woven into everything you do. You get the chance to work at the innovation hub of Europe and see the amazing world class research that you would never realise is even possible until you see it with your own eyes.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to University of Oxford?
  • Be honest, the University holds trust over most qualities, your team need to trust that you can get the job done, but you're not afraid to ask for help. Be interested, research what your teams role within the university is and how impact your role can be. Be proactive, ensure you are up to date and prompt in replying to requests and questions, the University is a sought after place to work, if you can't be bothered to reply there will always be someone else.
