  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I currently work in the learning team within KBS. I am part of a project team for a 3 day residential learning course to try and improve audit standards. Day to day really varies as there is a wide variety of things to do e.g. pulling reports, packing up for the events, answering emails etc

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I would I say that I have developed and learnt many new skills. For example I have really developed my IT skills such as excel as I use this software package on a daily basis. I have also developed my interpersonal skills as I speak to a variety of people on a daily basis and I have to alter the way I communicate with them

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I definitely enjoy the as it does give a balance for me to be able to study but also be able to complete the work that is necessary for my team. The apprentices that also work in the Watford office have not become close friends helping me to expand my social life. Overall I would say that I am very happy to far

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say that it has a good structure however it could be improved. I really like the rotational aspect as it gives me the ability to find out what I like and potentially what I want to do in the future as I am unsure. However with regards to the structure of the assessments that we complete it was not stated at the start how they are done. If this could be clearly set out at the start then it may not lead to the same panic that many apprentices experienced this year

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I do receive a lot of support from KPMG. I get a study day every week which they are strict on to ensure that I am having enough time to complete my assessments. I also have a performance manager who is really supportive and makes sure that I am not working too much. She is always making sure she catches up with me to make sure that I am ok

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I would say that I receive a good level of support. I have a dedicated skills coach who I can ask for help if I am struggling with one of my assessments then they are able to provide me with the support I need. The only thing I would say that could be better is if the deadlines were slightly longer. Some of the assessments have such a short time line in comparison to how much work needs to be done

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I would say that it has definitely helped with regards to raising awareness for the actual things that i am developing in my role as if I didn't see the criteria then I wouldn't think to try and improve in those areas. I would personally say that my main development has come from just working and doing my job.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of activities occurring in KPMG with there being a wide variety of networking events. There are also chances to play sports as I did get involved with the football team where they play every week. I would definitely say though that there is a wide variety of activities to get involved in.

  • 9a. Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • In KPMG there are so many places that you can go that you are bound to find something that you enjoy. I would also say that the people here are really friendly and it is like a community. If one person is struggling then everyone comes together to help that person

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • Just because it is such a big company does not mean that the people in KPMG are scary. The people are so friendly and are really welcoming and are always making sure that you are given the option to expand with what you want to do by giving you extra responsibilities
