My daily role consists of monitoring a shared inbox which receives queries from retail stores, contact centres and 3rd patry agents regarding Marella cruises with multiple different queries. It also consists of daily report filing sent over from the fleet. Additionally I speak with customers via the phone regarding their upcoming cruises.
I have found some areas of my job role very easy and not developed or learnt new skills from this. In my additional project work with other collegues around the business I have developed skills and leant a lot about new process which I was unaware of prior to starting.
I enjoy the degree apprenticeship programme and being able to relate the university work back to my day to day tasks is enjoyable as it gives a greater understanding of why they are used. I have also made good friendships with the people on my programme. The TUI environment is enjoyable to work within.
I believe the programme could be structured better as a lot of questions by apprentices are continually unanswered and there are areas which I believe could have been outlined better prior to our start date. Also the wider business knowledge from our managers is lacking which can cause for difficulty as an apprentice at times.
TUI is very flexible with working and gives a great opportunity to expand knowledge within the business but also within university. Any time requested by myself to complete university work or visit additional sessions or 1 to 1 chats with lectures have been approved immediately which has greatly aided my learning.
In the induction we received a detailed insight into the business which greatly helped with studying and including TUI within our assignments. I feel supported and when asking for help this is always acted upon and received not only by my closer team but the wider business within the UK and overseas.
Relating the studies back to TUI gives great help as it broadens understanding of the business and how things work. I found a lot of help during a unit which closely related to the project I work on in my role. These aligned perfectly and helped me to understand my work a lot more.
Yes. I have been involved in many social events within my larger team and also work events including trips abroad to launch new product and attend conferences. Also I have had the opportunity to represent TUI at apprentice shows which gave me the chance to meet with other apprentice within the business.
Yes
I believe TUI is great to work for and puts the learning at the heart of the programme. The support system is great from both the employer and training provider whom are all invested in our success. We also receive great benefits and a good salary for the programme we are on.
Make sure you do your research and understand TUI as a business. Stand out from the crowd and look back on previous experiences to demonstrate how you have been Trusted, Unique and Inspiring. Prior travel experience isn't always essential but an interest in tourism is favourable as it is the industry.
