  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis the general overview of the role is that you would be answering phone calls from members who are broken down in their vehicle and need us to come and assist them in which we send jobs in for members which are then picked up by our patrols and they go and help the members.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I think the main skill I have learnt since starting here is being confident before I started here I was very nervous and quite introverted in some ways I still am but I have managed to improve my confidence over the phone whether that be speaking to customers or other businesses or even different departments within the company.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I would say that the programme while it is not necessarily what everyone sees themselves in it is quite rewarding as when coming to the close of the apprenticeship the opportunities to progress further into the business stretch far and wide which is good as a full time career could become very possible.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme we have to complete to gain the qualification is well structured for four days a week we are on the phones taking breakdown calls from our customers gaining experience on the job and for the other day we are completing college work relevant to the customer service course that will help us gain a deeper understanding of the role we do.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive plenty of support from our employer however we are also given the freedom to make decisions for ourselves which means that we are trusted enough to do the right thing. We are kept up to date on any changes or new processes that are implemented and we are given training to get up to speed with anything we haven't learnt or been told to do yet.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive a lot of support from our training provider when working towards our qualification on our off phones day when we are completing the qualification a person comes in and is able to help us with anything we need in terms of our college work which means we don't struggle too much.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like the qualification gives us a perfect idea as to how to perform better within that customer service role as the qualification is an overview of the entire customer service area meaning we have plenty of ideas of how we need to perform in the role and what kind of things we can do to improve further in the role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of extra-curricular activities to get involved in at work we have a football team that plays in a business league against other businesses, we have a few different groups inside the workplace that often get together and do different things for example we have plenty of nights out at restaurants or bowling and many different fun events

  • 9a. Would you recommend The AA to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend the AA to the friend as there are many different roles within the business that you could apply for and even if you don't like the role your currently in the odds are that the company has something that may interest you further so there is no limit.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The AA?
  • I would suggest that if you apply to the AA or are thinking of applying that you should do some research on the role and at interview stage you ask plenty of questions as within the customer service role I am currently doing it is rather demanding so you should certainly be prepared for it.
