  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • At AA our day to day basis is to provide customers/members with help when they are needed. If a customer or member is broke down, they ring us and we put a job through on our specialised systems to get a patrol or garage out on our behalf to help them get up and running. We take calls continuously to make sure we are always ready and there to provide help for our customers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of new skills at my work place. I've learnt more developed customer service skills. I've learnt a lot of ways to speak to customers in the right way and I have also learnt how to build my confidence whilst taking calls on a daily, as we are always speaking to different customers.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe our programme is very structured as our training provider catch 22 has set the programme out as a very organised and well structured way in order for us to do our work and also keep up to date with our daily routine at the AA. We get assignments one by one which is really good for us as we are not just given loads at one time.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of help and support from my employer as they help and listen to anything we are stuck on. We have one to one meetings which really help as you can tell them anything you are stuck on and then they will help you develop and feed back to our training provider in case we are stuck on anything. We also have buzz sessions on our actual job role to help our confidence and our development in the business.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of help and support from my training provider as he comes in every week to see how we are doing. He also has one to one meetings to see what we are stuck on and what he can help us with. This is effective as we can see our strong points and also our weak points which we need more help in.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think the qualification really helps as it links to our job role and also makes us be better at our job as the work is relating to good customer service. This is really effective even for our members as we build more customer service skills which help on their behalf and also our confidence skills which help the business overall.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have a lot of events which happen outside of work, for example Christmas party, Triple B which is when we go bowling and then for food and also we do have our own football team which play against other companies. We also have things like apprenticeship awards, which are very rewarding.

  • 9a. Would you recommend The AA to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I feel like at the AA you can really progress and move up in the business. There is a lot of different job roles that everyone can apply for. Also it's very supporting working here as the employers will support your day to day routine and anything else you need help for.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The AA?
  • I would say to be confident and speak about yourself and what you think you're good at. Think about what you can offer the AA and also how you can benefit them and their job roles. The AA looks for who a person is as a whole, not just grades, so speak about your hobbies, strengths and also your weaknesses which you're willing to improve on.
