  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • day to day I take calls from customers who are wanting to report a breakdown they have had. I have to take all the customers details and input them into the system where it will get sent through to our service delivery team and they will then allocate a patrolman to each job and get someone out to assess our customers vehicles. I can also upgrade members to enable them to have the service they want, for example if a customer is broken down at home and doesn't have homestart I will have to take a payment from them to enable a patrolman to be sent out.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of skills in the first few months of doing my apprenticeship, I have learnt a lot of life skills and also become more confident within the workplace and also outside the workplace too. doing the job has made me a lot more confident and social, I feel like I know a lot more now and I am a lot happier within myself.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • my programme is very structured however some of the questions in the actual college work don't apply to my job role and therefore they are difficult to answer as there is nothing that relates to what I do, it is also sometimes frustrating as some of the questions are repeated and then I have to write the same answers for multiple questions.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer and they are always there for me when I need them, I know who is there for me to speak to if I need to talk about anything, I am aware of who is around me supporting me and know where I can get help if I need it.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I get a lot of support from my training provider and he knows my strengths and weaknesses and always helps where he can, he comes in weekly to ensure everyone is up to date with tasks and has help where they need it, it is good having him in every week because I can ask him any questions I need.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I perform better in my role after reflecting on my strengths and weaknesses I recognise throughout my apprenticeship work, I know what I am and are not doing to my best ability and know how to improve my service further, after reflecting on how I handle different customers I know what I could be doing better

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there are not many things to do outside of work to do with work apart from the Christmas do's, where everyone from the same team is invited out for a meal, there are also some random party nights that are plotted around the year where everyone from the same team can go and mingle and meet each other, I enjoy going to these as I get to meet other people I work with who I don't get to speak to every day.

  • 9a. Would you recommend The AA to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend working at the AA because it is a lovely environment full of people who motivate me and make me want to work my way up in the business, I know I can get further within the AA and I know other people would feel the same too, it is a very good environment where everyone is friendly and everyone supports each other.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The AA?
  • I would advise anyone applying for the AA to concentrate during training and take time to think about what they want to get out of working here as it is very fast paced and you learn something new everyday, it is not a job where it is always simple and the same thing comes up everytime as sometimes I take calls that I have never heard anything about and therefore learn more about the business.
