  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as assistant engineer means helping the site engineers with tasks such as setting out, carrying out safety inspections and also writing briefings and work package plans this all allows me to gain experience in the day to day activities of an engineer

  • I have learnt many new skills such as use of the setting out equipment but have also enhanced other skills such as organisation and teamwork

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the program as it allows me to learn on the job and gain first hand experience rather than just hear about it second hand like you would at college

  • The program is well structured making it very easy for those on the course to grasp what needs doing as everything is laid out and delivered very well

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The employer gives us loads of support with everything we have regular meetings with college and can call with any queries

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We have regular meetings with our college to discuss work and also have had loads of material provided to aid in our studies

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification helps improve our performance as it gave us prior knowledge before we started on site this was a huge help as it stopped us going in completely blind

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • When we are at college there are plenty of other activities to get involved in such as sports

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because it’s a very well structured apprenticeship that allows anyone on the course to reach their full potential easily and the support is excellent f


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
  • Always work you hardest and it will pay off and pay attention to all information provided for you
