  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I manage a team of 13 colleagues who deal with Meter operator contracts, billing and credit management. I coach, mentor, lead PD.s and continuous improvement sessions to develop my team and the wider business. I liaise with the wider business to resolve issues and encourage my team to do the same.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed existing skills and knowledge, for instance thinking about different leadership skills and types in order to get what I need from the team - I have learnt that it is ok to have different types which matches the different types of colleagues in my team. This has helped recently as I have new people join my tem.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the workshops and sharing experiences with other people in the class - I enjoy doing the online modules and some research myself - it has helped me to think about looking for things on the internet that I would not have researched before - it has also helped me think about why we do things differently.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It us well structured with the workshops and modules, I just find the system and the process to download information is a mine field and not an area I am confident in. The monthly meetings are useful, I have only had one so far so hard to see if this is sufficient yet.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My SM has been helpful and supportive. We do have time to go through the info but as a team manager it is easier for me to do on the job training as I do this every day from coaching and 121 to mentoring and I get time to complete this stuff, although as my work needs to be completed regardless, I still have the same amount of work to do on top of this.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have telephone contact with remit for guidance and have the monthly workshops and 2 hour slots at work to help with supporting me to ensure that I am able to complete the course, I have sufficient information for what I need to do at the moment but I know I can just ask.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • This will help in my confidence and also the wider business as I can educate those around me, be more confident in delivering for the business and know that in my daily role I can be the best that I can be and able to upskill my team on that area.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there has been an apprenticeship awards ceremony and there are external networking arrangements and this website also has a lot of events and groups that we can get involved in which I was not aware of until this question was asked which is a bonus I also have met new colleagues in this and am developing those relationships.

  • 9a. Would you recommend E.ON to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I love working at eon, we have so many opportunities to learn and develop within our role and outside of that role, to enable us to develop our careers and not just our jobs, these skills also help to improve us outside of work such as taking up voluntary work.

  • If you want a structured way of working this is the place for you where you can learn in a safe environment and b supported by your fellow colleagues who also want to learn and develop. there are so many opportunities for you to look at and a lot of change so you never feel that you are in the same job for long.
