  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Managing a team of sales executives who sell meeting rooms for 13 hotels across London. Managing the teams workload, training new tam members, building and managing relationships with the hotels, developing systems and procedures, setting and reviewing targets, reporting on conversion, meeting room occupancy and enquiry share of my team.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have found the apprenticeship has not only taught me skills such as different learning styles and how organisational culture can have an impact on the day to day of a team but also has given me the confidence in skills I already have. It has made me so much more self aware on how everything I do impacts the people around me.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy the programme and have found the workload manageable and interesting to do. I have enjoyed my one on one time with my trainer and always get a lot out of these. It is more work than I expected but I know it will be worth it at the end.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel there could have been more support at the beginning before the first meeting with my trainer as there wasn't much information on what it would involve. However, after the first meeting it has been well structured and I feel I have the support I require to complete the programme.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My line manager is very supportive and always asks what I have done in my sessions and how I am getting on. Due to managing a new team, I do not have time to complete any work for my programme during the work day but I do not mind this.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I feel they have been very supportive. My trainer, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] from lifetime have both been a great support and I know I could reach out to either of them should I need any further support. They have both provided additional information when I have asked, which has been very helpful.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel it allows me to reflect better and be more self aware of my actions and what I am portraying to the team. I feel it has made me a better trainer and able to have more confidence in myself and my ability to do the role to a high standard.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Hilton Worldwide has a very large variety of additional activities which you can take part in such as a running club, a weekly walk, craft sessions and internal celebrations. I would like there to be more professional networking events and I take every opportunity to go to these when possible.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Hilton to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • There is a great focus on development and progression and they are very supportive company to work for. There are great benefits such as discounted hotel nights, discounted food and drink and an online store with discounts and loyalty points to build up. They have health care benefits as well.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hilton?
  • Do your research on the Hilton Values and what the company believes in before interviews as this is often covered in interview questions. Customer Service and being hospitable is the main focus of Hilton so having examples of both of these is always good for interviews. There is a lot of training/induction required when you first start.
