  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I believe that the apprenticeship is very valuable, you are given opportunities and responsibilities right from the beginning which makes you jump straight into the work. As well as this, you are constantly working with teams and therefore always have someone to ask questions to. You are never expected to do something without being told how to do it and are always able to ask questions.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • you have learnt to interact with clients and different levels of colleagues which really helps develop your confidence. As well as this, you also develop ways to understand and process information in a way that is easy to convey when documenting work. You also learn to maintain a work / life and study balance.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the current programme. Every team i have worked with always makes the work enjoyable and makes you feel part of the team as well as being understanding that you are new and always ready to explain concepts to you. The people in the office are very friendly and always ready to help!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is spilt where you are sent to college for a week or however long depending on the length of the course you are about to study. and then are given study time before you take the exam. During these periods everyone in the teams are very understanding and let you leave early to study

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is an apprenticeship team which regularly send updates and are always available if you have any questions about the programme. As well as this, you also receive a counselor who has been through the exact same things that you are and are again, always available and willing to answer questions

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • You receive regular emails from the training provider about revision and any materials that are available to you for study. There is also a website which has all the books online as well as questions you can answer. You are also able to contact tutors at the training provider if you have any questions.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think that the qualification really sets out the framework for all the work you do on a day to day basis as it gives you the fundamental accounting knowledge you will need for a career in finance. It was really helpful to have learnt these before commencing working with clients and teams.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • EY have many Networks which you can sign up to; of which include; sports, religion, arts, womens network. All these networks have many socials and have also opportunities for you get more involved within the network so you can build links through EY and meet new people so you are not constantly working.

  • 9a. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend EY for anyone to wants to start a career in accounting or finance, it is a very good starting point for anyone as you are able to gain a good exposure, in a bug 4 company through clients and working within new teams. It has been really enjoyable so far.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • I would say apply and enjoy the time you spend at EY, it is very valuable and a good experience for everyone. As well as this, i would say be yourself and have an open mindset to the company and be ready to try new things during the course of it.
