  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As the first year of students completing the degree apprenticeship at CGI and UOW the programme has faced some organisational and structural issues, particularly in the first year. However, since the introduction of a new programme leader in the second year, they have worked hard to improve this making a number of effective changes brining the programme in-line with CGI’s and the students’ expectations. Overall, the programme is now well organised and structured.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My people manager is very accommodating and supportive. He offers excellence guidance for my career progression and general well-being within the company. My line manager supports me on a day-to-day basis, making herself available for any queries I have about my day, demonstrating me new ideas and concepts and suggesting relevant training. My mentor is another pillar of support, providing me with an alternative viewpoint outside of my formal manager’s remit, offering guidance and support with university work in particular.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My tutor at university provides me with excellent support, particularly with regard to my final year project. • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The university courses which I have completed under the degree apprenticeship have generally been very relevant and applicable to my learning and development within the workplace. A mixture of both technical focused modules including software development and data analysis and business focused modules such as project management and sustainable strategy has equipped me with the hard skills, theories and concepts required to perform well in the workplace.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The social side of CGI is excellent! In particular, the Sports and Social club, a part staff and part corporate funded initiative, which puts on weekly sporting events and one off events such as musicals, plays, concerts and many other activities for members. This is an excellent way to socialise with colleagues outside of a professional setting and meet new people within the organisation. In addition to this, the projects at CGI also have regular outings, such as drinks and lunches out.
