  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my role involves in any marketing IT fixes, but also integrations with other applications. I am doing a BA apprenticeship, therefore a lot of my working involves with agile working a scrum, but also investigating issues and finding a solution. I run daily meetings and carry work both within a team and individually.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt about agile working, srum and have also developed my personal skills such as multi-tasking, organisation, IT skills(Microsoft). Workshops that are also part of the course, helped me develop my knowledge of my BA role. I managed to take this in action in my workplace which was helpful.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Enjoy taking part in challenges the company offer to apprentices. There is a mixture of opportunities and the line managers with the learning coach make sure that you cover everything in relation to passing the qualification. I would rate the programme of enjoyment with 8, as the opportunities make it fun to work with big brands.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well organised, however the coursework is not well explained. As an arch provider it would be ideal to have 1 hr classes to go through the competencies. Explanation is not well organised as mostly all based on reading from documents which is not helpful for very new beginners.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I don't receive much support from my employer, but get given guidelines on how to carry out tasks. The support is low, however the team i'm based with give helpful support. The employer visits are not enough to catch-up and contracting is difficult to get an answer on time.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We have monthly catch-up's, however not much support when coming to write up the competences. Its all new, therefore classes will be helpful to understand these in more detail then a document. The learning coach is friendly and gives the basic guidelines but there is not teachers or webinars to help.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The class workshops that take part every quarter, are helpful to understand different BA roles. (E.g - certified scrum workshop). This has helped me take knowledge into the workplace and apply what i have learnt. It also helps me to develop my BA knowledge as this is all new to me.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There has been a few extra activities to take part in, which makes the experience more interesting. However there could be more for apprentices in general, this will be helpful to gather together. The extra curricular activities are usually hosted in the company and within teams, socialising with other people can also be fun and a greta way to meet new people.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • To develop their skills and understand the office environment. It helps to be more confident as you in a new environment, which can be daunting. Everyone is very friendly and there is always help around the office. Its great to develop your skills and gain the qualification all in one.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • To be confident in taking challenges and to make the most of their time doing something they enjoy. Its a great experience to meet new people and be treated fairly even though your not as skilled as the employees. The company have many apprentices, therefore there is always help around. Ideal to develop own skills.
