1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role was an Smart Future intern. Everyday we was given a workshop run by a volunteer in order to train us for our work week experience. We was given set tasks everyday for example: Dragons Den, CV edits and interview techniques. We was all responsible for completing the group activities. It was fun getting to network with many people that work with EY.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes. For example, I was extremely shy before the programme however the tasks included presenting in front of a large audience which gained and arose my confidence. It was good talking to many people and gaining confidence to ask different questions.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoyed it a lot. I am definitely going to keep in touch with all the networks I have made during this programme. Not only this, but I will look out for more Summer programmes.

4. How valued do you feel by EY?

I feel very valued as I was told only 3 in 1 applicants get a space. My manager always ensured she asked me if I was okay and knew what I was doing.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

It was extremely organized. Every morning we'd recieve a timetable of what we are going to do throughout the whole day. Moreover, at the end of each and every day, we have the last half an hour to complete our learning logs.

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

I recieved a lot of support. My feedback wasnt harsh or didnt make me feel uncomfortable at all. My mentor also made sure that if there was anything I needed i can contact her at any time.

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

If there was any problems in the work space, my employer was always there. For example I was stuck on what to do as I had a free space. I went over and asked what I should do and was helped.

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

Although travel and lunch was expensive, the pay was really good. I recieved 6.85 for every hour.

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

I learnt that going to university wasnt the only way to get into the world of work. Doing an apprenticeship at EY can get you extremely far too. Moreover there are many organizations and clubs you could attend to gain experience in other sectors.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?

Tips and advice I would give to others applying for EY is to always ensure that you have your laptop with you and complete all the learning logs day by day. The application process is really tough but I would advise every applicant to get out there and make sure they stand out!
