  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Learned people skills and management skills for life.

    8/10

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It’s okay. Wish it could be more intense and faster so I can make more that 7 pounds an hour for 3 years.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Aldi?
  • Kinda. As an 18 year old running a store I don’t get that mug respect from the other staff since I’m an 18 year old telling grown adults what to do. Wish it wasn’t like that.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Good

    9/10

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Well the first company went bust so I had about four months where I wasn’t getting any training but another company came in and they sort of picked up from last people and managed okay.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A good level of support when requested however time management and restraints because of the way that Aldi works can sometimes be difficult for me to get support I require because we’re always so busy.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Not at all, the fact that I have to live on 7 pound an hour for three years to pay my rent and be able to get myself food has been quite a challenge and put me in quite a deal of debt which is why I’m so looking forward to finishing the apprenticeship so I can actually make some real money to support myself.

    1/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I don’t know what this question means.

    10/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would if they could handle it. Aldi is very fast paced and stressful job which is probably why they pay most people quite a lot however being an apprentice they don’t pay me quite a lot. But if I thought someone could cope with stress and do it effectively then yes I would recommend the job.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • Take everything with about 10 pinches of salt. It isn’t easy. You get days where you wanna break down and cry and you get some great days. Just wish I could come into work without worrying if I will have enough money to buy lunch.
