  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Everyday we were given new presentations on different things for example one day was helping us build a strong LinkedIn profile with the cofounder of LinkedIn. We also were given presentations on the 4 service lines of EY to find out which one we’d be the most interested in. We also got to do a weeks work experience on the working floor in different departments where we were given jobs and presentations to lead during the week.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I developed my teamwork and communication skills. I also gained organizations and time management skills. I was really lucky to be able to speak to the parents and the rest of my colleagues on the final day and was able to fully enhance my public speaking skills and really come out of my shell. I believe the programme gives you skills for life that you would need everyday in a working world. From managing your time to be at work on time to organizing your day to juggle tasks and then to also communicate effectively with colleagues to get the best ideas and contributions.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoyed the programme and thought it really made me come out of my shell and get a first hand insight into what a professional services firm is like. I also made some really good friends who were like minded as the goals we all had were quite similar and it was and environment of everyone being keen to gain knowledge and experience. It was a placement I believe I really thrived and excelled in and the support from the mentors really did push me.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It was very well organized and ensured we got to have a real insight and got to experience everything to the utmost level. I feel like the first two weeks gave us a real insight to the firm and really built us up to be strong candidates by helping us build our communication skills and business skills at the ICAEW business day and then the third week really gave us a practical hands on experience into the world of work.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive a fair amount of support from my training provider and I received a CMI level 3 qualification from them at the end of the programme which is for training and adult management.
