  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role was to study what my supervisor does on a day to day basis and try to understand his role. I was working at FBN Uk as part of the corporate partners so I was peivelleged enough to develop my understanding of banking which I want to do in the future.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I learnt transferable skills which I can take with me to future career opportunities such as management skills and communication skills. I was also able to build confidence through activities and able to build my corporate circle through being provided with a mentor for 10- months to enable personal growth aswell as acting as an iron fist.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EY?
  • I feel completely valued by EY as my only was we handed laptops and given entry passes, we were also paid for the work experience showing how they value us as normal interns and not children. Normally work experiences are handed un paid but EY was completely opposite to this which I respect highly

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was well structured as we were given the timetable of what we were doing for the first week which was entirely helpful as we were allowed to engage in icebreakers which helped us get to know eachother a bit more. The second week we were handed buddys in the work place which helped as we had no clue as to what to do.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received a lot of support from my employer who showed me the main bodies and how the office operates as well as giving me an overview of the tasks while making sure I was busy at all times. This ensured that I had a glimpse of what future career I would go into and get a taste of the near future.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary doesn’t meet my costs to a great extent but i was very much thankful after only completing 2 weeks of work experience and making sure I wasn’t working for more than 7 hours. Overall the pay met my expectations but not my costs as overall the expenses travelling to and from work cost me 50% of my paycheck.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many work experiences out there but from the ones I have attended 90% have been non paid and this opportunity stood out because we were rewarded for hard work and treated as the adults we are. Also the mentor part to the programme is unique as not other programmes have this.
