  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is the Skin Care Team Assistant/Brand building assistant. I act as an assistant to the team, helping with various admin tasks including raising direct orders, helping to organise events and helping out generally wherever I can. I also work with the brand teams on various marketing activities, including social media marketing and influencer marketing. I speak to external media agencies on a daily basis, and I also have regular interactions with the sales team and the external skin care team. I attend brand cascades which involves meeting the customers and showcasing our upcoming product launches. I have recently been in charge of a project which I came up with myself, where an in house photo studio was built as a place for us to create content as a way of saving costs.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme has been well organised and structured. We had two days of induction when we started, which involved getting to know the other apprentices, doing a tour of the building, learning about the qualification and also learning a little bit about Unilever and its' brands. We have access to lots of internal training, as well as support from our line managers. In terms of studying for exams and completing coursework, I usually work a four day office week, and then use Friday for studying for exams and completing coursework; however, this varies depending on your workload. I have been given numerous tasks from my line manager, and also brand team members. My programme has been well organised and structured, and there are always people to go to for advice or guidance.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The Unilever apprentice salary is more than I expected it to be. It has been enough to cover my living/travel/social/daily costs. Living close by to the office has been helpful, as I haven't had to travel too far. I am happy with the salary we receive.
