  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learnt lots of new skills, these have been learnt through doing my NVQ and through work at college, I have currently only been on one training course, however I am hoping to go on more in the near future, I am constantly improving all of my fitting skills, with help from the other engineers, I have also massively improved my mechanical skills and my mechanical knowledge

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my work as it helps me to improve and hone my skills as an engineer, it also interests me massively, I enjoy working with the team as they all try and help me as much as possible and teach me what I need to know. It has met my expectations very well as I've been able to work with highly expensive machines and use state of the art equipment. I do enjoy my apprenticeship and I find it very interesting

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Unilever?
  • I feel as though my manager appreciates my efforts and tells me whenever I perform well and helps me along when I struggle, I feel as though my efforts are recognised throughout the site by operators and factory directors alike, externally I feel as though my efforts aren't widely recognised, however I've not had much opportunity to show what I do externally, I've been involved in innovation projects, however not as deeply as I would've liked to be, I do feel valued within the company.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My course is nicely structured, I had a factory induction at the start of the year, which was beneficial, I have been receiving a good amount of training in my college, however very little external training, I have been studying outside of college and work, this has also massively helped my in work knowledge, I've been delegated lots of tasks that are more to my ability by engineers and they have been getting progressively more difficult, so I feel as though the organisation behind my programme has been fairly good

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Due to me being on block release I tend to get very little support from my tutors at the moment, however this is due to no fault of their own, I feel as though the support I can get is very limited and only available through E-mail, so this then leads onto me not getting ,much guidance with any issues that I have, the support towards supporting me is very positive and I feel as though people do go out of their way to help me, I do enjoy my training.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my line leader, he constantly tries to find tasks for me and things for me to do, I receive support from the HR team in terms of WCM, I also receive support from my mentor, Support is always very accessible for me and I can always obtain guidance when I'm struggling with anything work or home related, my employers have a very good attitude towards supporting me and they all want to see me do well.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • It meets my living costs very well, as I still live at home and have to pay keep, so I can easily afford to live, my travel costs are also covered with my salary, as it allows me to drive and pay for my petrol as well as insurance, it pays for my daily food and living as well and for anything that I would need to purchase in my day, I can also afford to go out and see my friends as well
