  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • We had to complete learning logs in the first week of the course. This was us learning about networking skills and team leadership. In the second week we were given the chance to do work experience at EY, where our EY buddies included us in their daily tasks such as completing audits and attending meetings. I enjoyed my time here and i think the experience was really worth going in the end and i have taken quite a lot away from my experience with EY as well.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • In terms of qualifications, we were assigned to the CMI course where we would be qualified in team leadership roles, this was the learning logs activity. Also, I think I developed my team leadership skills and feel more confident speaking in front of people. I was tested on this when we were told to present what we learnt in POwerPoint to a bunch of people we didn't know, who were EY employees. It was nerve-wracking but great fun. It really exceeded my expectations.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoyed the programme. I felt that I've learnt more than I could ever learn in two weeks. It's not just the experience but I learnt how we should be performing and our behaviour in the workplace. For example formal wear was stressed by EY facilitators which made me realise how important it was. I enjoyed my time there and i think the experience was really worth going in the end and i have taken quite a lot away from my experience with EY as well.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EY?
  • Extremely valued. Our role was more than coffee runs and printing out sheets of paper. Employees actually gave us real work to do and engaged us in lunch meetings like Nando's with the staff, and we did real work. The team was so friendly and helpful, and they made us feel like we actually worked there, we felt so welcomed it's unbelievable. We were supported when asking any questions to a member of staff and they encouraged us to try get the most out of the experience placements as possible which i found really good of them to do.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Our programme was structured well. We were given plenty of activities to do during the first week however when we were at our actual experience we didn't have much to do because employees were busy with their work which was understandable. They had to find us bits and bots to do so there were some points where we didn't have much to do. I found myself fully engaged with the programme and i managed to take away a lot from the whole experience too, it gave me a good insight to the company and the sort of work which goes on too.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • we had mentor lunches so we were able to get so much help and advice from them. Our facilitators were so helpful they'd sit at our table and help us complete tasks and always had things planned and always listened to what we had to say. I think that the fact all the employees we met were understanding and tried to answer any questions we had but also encouraged us to get as much from the experience as possible was really nice and helpful to younger people such as myself who perhaps are unsure of what to do in the future.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Our Buddies during the actual work experience were so helpful they really pushed us to ask questions and really wanted to get to know us. They were so sweet and treated us as employees rather than work experience kids. As mentioned in previous questions, all the employees we met were understanding and tried to answer any questions we had but also encouraged us to get as much from the experience as possible was really nice and helpful.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I think the traveling here was a bit costly even with a child oyster which is really unfair. But I feel that, because this is a paid experience this would be covered by our pay we got so it's fine. The lunch here however and In canary wharf was extremely expensive so I found it absolutely pleasing and it was really generous for EY to provide us with lunch while at more London place. They even paid for our Nando's lunch during work experience one time!

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • While not working I personally tried to go to the library and revised but it got too late by the time I got home and the library would close so I wasn'y able to get much revision done for my AS maths this year. However I did have weekends to revise for my exams. I feel as though there are many opportunities within the EY company and i feel as though it could potentially be a future work place for me as i know from this experience they can offer a lot and have lovely and helpful members of staff and everyone just seems like a big family more than anything. Definitely a workplace you would want to be in.

  • 9. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It was an amazing experience and it was only because someone referred me, that Im doing this course. Otherwise I wouldn't have known about such a great experience and therefore I'd love for my family members and friends to have this amazin goppurtunity and will be helping them apply for the programme next year. I feel as though i got a lot of helpful information out of my time and work experience placement there and i would love to go back as either an apprentice on one of their courses/schemes or a full time employee starting out.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • I would first tell them that application process may be long, but i's definitely worth it. Prepare a CV in advance to be attached to your application. Furthermore once you get to the phone interview you have to think of as many examples as possible where you have stood out from others and expressed working skills. Also make sure you have legal documents and if you don't then apply for them in advance so there's no trouble once you get on the programme e.g. NI number.
