  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My job title is Audit Associate. On a day to day basis, I have to speak to clients, face to face, over the phone or by email. I need to complete excel workbooks, performing procedures on clients financial data. I am required to review workbooks created by first years below me. I am responsible for several accounts and all work performed on them.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the work very much, its different everyday and you are always learning something new. The team culture is always great, people are very helpful and supportive. There are a lot of social events to partake in. The work culture is slightly difficult at times. Long hours are expected of you and often its the companies needs above your own personal development.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • In Bristol, I feel the salary is too low to cover all costs. I feel this may be because a lot of other School Leavers still live at home and therefore don't have to occur costs of living. But the salary is similar to other Big 4 Firms for apprentices and is manageable just about.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are lots of EY events to get involved in. There are also a lot of social events organised outside of work with my colleagues. You can be as involved as you want to be.

  • 9. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Career Progression is almost guaranteed and the people are always supportive and helpful.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • Before considering to apply to the EY apprenticeship, you should first consider whether you want an adult job and career progression. The job is much more serious than I expected and is far from the university lifestyle. The application process consists of an online application, following by a series of psychometric tests. These tests are followed by a telephone interview, assessment centre and final partner interview. These assessment days assess how you react to people and interact so just be confident.
