  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis I help the managers by holding the managers key, responding to bells, and do basic store assistant roles such as putting out stock. I also do the date check regularly and stick order sales.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy this programme and definitely glad I chose this apprenticeship. It’s different everyday so you don’t get tired or bored of the same thing everyday. It’s a really great programme and you get full support with whatever you need. I thoroughly enjoy this programme

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel that my programme is very well organised and structured as you know as the years go on what sort of things you’ll be covering. My tutor also is very organised and in our monthly visits we set plans and targets which get stuck to. This helps see where I am within my apprenticeship programme.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive as much support as I need from my training provider, which is amazing. Any issues or questions I may have about any work set for me I am able to email, text or call my tutor for help or guidance. He is always on hand, which is very convenient. From my in store training provider I also receive a lot of support if I have any queirys I am able to ask them or any other managers and they’re always helpful and friendly.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer, and they keep my up to date on how my progress is going in store and how far I’m coming along in general. I know what areas i needn’t to improve in and what areas I excel in

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • For an apprentice my salary is amazing, but as a young person who recently moved into their own flat it’s not great and just about covers all the bills, so in effect it doesn’t meet my costs too well. If I didn’t have to pay bills and rent then it would be amazing, but hopefully when it goes up again in my final year I’ll be able to live a little more comfortably

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There aren’t many opportunities outside work as my town is a very small town and clubs / activities are very limited. Also work hours are often very awkward or not set days and keep changing so sticking to an activity weekly would prove to be difficult

  • 9. Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would definitely recommend aldi to a friend as it’s a great company to work for, they care for their staff by offering them a wide range of things on perks at work, and they ensure your wellfare comes first. The job itself is fun, and the people I’ve met along the way are incredible. The pay is good and your social skills improve a lot once you start working here. You feel like part of a team and I think that it’s just all round a great place to work

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • I would tell others when applying for aldi to mention their people skills and ensure they’re good with working in a team as that’s a key factor of working in Aldi. I would also tell them to make sure they’re motivated for the job because some days are difficult and team morale is low, you have to really try and can’t just sit and give up! Some advice would be: be prepared for a fast moving, non-stop environment otherwise you will have a shock like I did!
