  • My apprenticeship is a mix of a BTEC LEVEL 3 taking place at college in Chester, workshop work including electrical/instrumentation tasks and on site experience where we are given the chance to practice our skills and learn more.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my communication skills massively and been taught the key skills in order to develop and grow your character within an excelling organisation

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love this programme. My group is made of people from all over the country and it is great to see how we have all bonded despite our different ages/backgrounds. We would have never have bonded like we have without the world class support network and training we receive throughout our time.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by National Grid?
  • From day one, we were treated as though we had worked there for years. It is constantly talked about how apprentices are so important and the future of the company.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There is a clear timetable a year ahead of our time. Any changes to the programme are made aware to us well in advance. The college, training, on site mix works well.

  • The support network for this apprenticeship is one of the best things about it. There is no end of different people you can speak to about any problems no matter where you are.

  • The support network for this apprenticeship is one of the best things about it. There is no end of different people you can speak to about any problems no matter where you are.

  • The salary we receive is fantastic and one of the best salaries for apprentices in the country.

  • There is no end of extra curricular things you can get involved in from councils to group representatives.

  • Yes
