  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have improved my ability to research into subject. I have learnt a lot about the business side of my career and the different aspects to it. Within CGI I have been given countless opportunities to attend training courses to better my learning and my input into the company. As a result I have a software subscription for online courses, I am a first aider and I have attended a Java SE8 course

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I feel the programme was a bit of a struggle moving from the apprenticeship to the degree apprenticeship because of the transition in learning style. That being said, I feel I have adapted well to the change. The overall degree has covered very similar topics and I feel we would have benefitted more from a wider variety of topics. For example the Software Development module and Principles of Programming module in year 2 of the course had a very similar assignment and would have benefitted more from very different hand-ins

  • 4. How valued do you feel by CGI?
  • CGI is an excellent company and from the CGI side of the apprenticeship I feel that they make every effort to make the process as smooth as possible I feel I am recognized for my hard work through feedback and recognition awards. I enjoy the ability to try different roles within the company and the ability to meet a variety of different people through different support networks. CGI has helped me grow into the working professional that I am today

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel that the university is making the structure up as they go. There has been very little internal communication between the tutors and as a result, different tutors provide different information of the format of the course. It is difficult to structure the course around the new government legislation and therefore there is a reason that it has been poorly organised but I feel there has been very little transparency regarding this.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The training provider is available via email to answer questions and support. I feel there could be more constructive feedback given in order for me to improve my own performance Overall they will respond to me when they can and provide detail where possible.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Every CGI colleague has been incredibly supportive of my programme. My mentor meets with me every week to go through my work and answer any questions I have. My project colleagues are happy to help in any area they are able to. And my manager is very supportive of my dissertation leave and ongoing assignments.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary is competitive

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • CGI has a Sports and Social Club which allows members all around the UK to attend events and run events and a much reduced cost. This has allowed all sorts of opportunities such as Lunchtime badminton sessions which do not cost me anything as a result of being a member. This initiative not only allows me to meet colleagues in an informal setting but also helps me to try new opportunities.

  • 9. Would you recommend CGI to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • As a company, CGI offers a whole host of different experiences and opportunities. I feel it has all the benefits of a corporate company such as member benefits and the Sports and Social Club, while still hosting the opportunities of a small company such as having a voice in a project and the ability to discuss thoughts and feedback in a project regardless of level
