  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a 360 apprentice, so I get to try out different areas of the business before deciding what I would like to specialise in, I am working in pensions admin at the moment in which I reply to client letters, work out transfer values and retirement quotes as well as GMP recs and other client work, I didn't know this beforehand so I am learning on the job, I have my own schemes that I am responsible for and everyday I come in to se what work I have to complete that day which can be anything from projects to just returning letters.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I'm working towards my level 3 AAT which is a well known accounting qualification and KPMG are very supportive of it, we also have internal training which you are able to complete in work time, you also go out to college to learn the requirements for our exams. I've learnt how to use many different software's which I wouldn't have known before, I've learnt many skills especially prioritisation of work

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the sector I am in at the moment, my team are all very nice and very helpful if you need any help, everyone in KPMG are easy to talk to and there are many social events to get to know people. You get very close with other people in the program too.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by KPMG?
  • I feel valued from my tem as they need the help and so they show this by thanking you for any work you do and making you feel as part of the team in the short space you are in it.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There is a clear structure to the program and they clearly show you what you will achieve in the time that you are here. The induction talks a lot more about KPMG as a company rather than what your day to day role will be and after that you spend time training in the department you are in. There are many people you can talk to about anything and you also have your own performance manager who you can talk to about anything, you will also meet them every few months but you can schedule whenever yo need.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • College has many different ways to support you and has a specialised team you can email to ask any questions you may have, they also take into consideration any issues you may have.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As I said before there are many people you can talk to within KPMG about anything, if you have any mental problems you can be referred to occupational health which can make life easier for you everyday

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My costs outside of work doesn't take up that much of my wage and I still have enough money to treat myself each month or go out with friends and any expenses you occur at work is reimbursed to you each month such as petrol costs for travelling, you also get an in-office lunch allowance as well as an out-office if you are working at a client sight

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • KPMG have many societies you can join as well as social events such as Christmas parties/meals, KPMG like to get involved in many voluntary organisations and show this to their staff who are always raising money for different things.

  • 9. Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I think it is one of the best apprenticeship programs for accounting as you don't need much prior knowledge and you don't have to know which area of accounting you'd like to specialise in which is really good if you don't know what you want to do and there is also a lot of perks such as a laptop and a phone and a day off for your birthday.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • Show how you are different from everyone else applying, take each step of the process slowly and really try to understand what they are asking you, try and know about the values for KPMG as they will be talked about a lot, mostly be confident in yourself and try to do any extra curricular activities such as volunteering or charity work as it is important to KPMG that you are trying to make a difference.
